Taking Citizenship action – let’s do this!
This lesson is part 9 of a sequence of 11 lessons addressing the key enquiry: How can I be a changemaker in my local community?
This lesson empowers students to implement their previously developed action plans, fostering independence while ensuring teacher oversight for safeguarding and guidance. Students start by identifying campaign techniques and revisiting factors for success from prior activities. They then articulate success criteria tailored to their actions, emphasising tangible impacts. The majority of the session focuses on students executing their plans, such as creating campaigns, writing to stakeholders, or gathering petition signatures, with teacher support to refine and evaluate their efforts. Reflection and peer feedback are integral, culminating in students sharing progress and identifying areas of pride. A takeaway task encourages further action outside the classroom.
Students will work towards answering the following learning questions:
- How can I have a successful action?
- What will success look like?
