Ideally a nomination is made by someone who really knows the individual, school or organisation. You can also nominate yourself as well as your school or colleagues and in more than one category. We encourage nominations for those of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic and underrepresented groups, as we seek a diverse and representative list of nominees.

If you are a pupil who would like to nominate your Citizenship Teacher to receive the Student Choice Award we’d love to hear from you. Here’s some tips when completing your application.

You may want to consider the following when explaining to us why you think your teacher should win the Student Choice Award: 

• How does your teacher make you feel about Citizenship? 
• What has been the best lesson your teacher has taught you about Citizenship and why? 
• How has your teacher supported and encouraged you to achieve your best in your lessons? 
• Have you been involved in any active citizenship projects or charity work, if you have, how did it go?
• In one sentence please try to explain why your Citizenship teacher is better than all the others!

• Use evidence and examples to support your nomination
• Highlight the impact that this individual, school or organisation has made (see the examples below): 

Impact on students: Give real examples and detail of lessons and their direct impact on students. Practical evidence of high quality, inspirational Citizenship teaching and learning in the classroom; of a love of learning and excellent pedagogy and classroom skills. For Citizenship subject leaders or lead practitioners, provide evidence of inspirational support/leadership and creative approaches that enthuse, engage and motivate the students and other teachers. Tell us what makes this person unique or special. 

Impact on colleagues: Use examples of how they support others, influence colleagues, or have improved Citizenship in the school. How have they motivated others to be passionate and enthusiastic about teaching Citizenship. Tell us about the little examples from everyday school life and teaching practice as well as those bigger and more impressive ones.

Impact on the school culture and community: Give examples of their overall contribution to Citizenship and the difference it has made to the wider life of the school and community.
